This is an advanced level in-depth safety inspection position that serves as the Team Leader of a 2-person bridge inspection team conducting inspections on all types of structures in a specific geographical area of the state. Work is performed in an outside environment at considerable heights, with exposure to snakes, spiders, insects, and poisonous plants. Safety shoes will be required as a condition of employment. Other duties include training new inspectors, scheduling and planning the team’s activities in conformance with bridge priorities. Work will primarily be in the county where the structures are located and surrounding counties with, upon special request, light travel to other counties in the state. This position is responsible for all office duties including record keeping for payroll, progress reports, inventory control, and equipment maintenance. This position provides contact with other DOT Personnel, other State Agencies, researchers, etc. as necessary.
