Brunswick County seeks a Multi-Trades Inspector to perform inspections ensuring compliance with building codes. Candidates must hold relevant trade certifications and possess experience in building inspection or construction. The Multi-Trades Inspector performs inspections for building construction and existing structures for compliance with applicable building trades and related codes and ordinances. This position provides technical interpretation of codes and regulations as needed and prepares and maintains all required documentation. Compensation is based on standard certifications held and experience in inspections. Position is non-exempt and eligible for overtime.
Brunswick County Code Administration utilizes a career ladder and certification incentive program for advancement which allows employees to further their career in the inspections field as certifications are attained.

High School or Technical School diploma supplemented by one to two years of experience in building inspection or construction; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
Physical Requirements
Tasks involve some combination of climbing and balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching and crawling, and the lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of moderate weight (up to 20 pounds). Tasks may require traversing uneven terrain, entering confined spaces and/or climbing ladders during field inspections.
