Job summary

David Evans and Associates, Inc. seeks an Engineer-in-Training: Bridge Inspection to join our Bridges and Structures Practice in Salem, OR or nearby markets.

You’ll perform condition inspections, support load rating calculations, and help develop design calculations under supervision. Ideal candidates have a civil/structural degree or are completing in Spring 2027, EIT certification, and 0–2 years of bridge inspection experience.

Qualifications

• 0–2 years of experience in bridge inspection, load rating, or design.
• Licensed Engineer-in-Training (EIT).
• Proficiency in Mathcad and Microsoft Office (Excel/Word).
• Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset.

Responsibilities

• Perform condition inspections of existing bridges and tunnels.
• Generate and edit bridge and tunnel inspection reports.
• Organize information for use in project documents.
• Assist with development of bridge load rating calculations.
• Assist with bridge rehabilitation and maintenance projects.
• Perform structural analyses and develop calculations using the AASHTO Manual for Bridge Evaluation and other codes.
• Assist with development of engineering drawing details.
• Assist with bridge preservation projects by creating concept reports.
• Develop engineering quantity and cost estimates.
• Assist with development of project specifications.
• Review contractor submittals during construction.
