Job summary

Volkert, Inc. is seeking an experienced Structural Bridge Engineer in Training (E.I.) to support our Southeast Region in Tampa or Orlando, FL.

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor’s degree in Structural or Civil Engineering and an EIT certification, with 1–5 years of structural engineering experience (FDOT preferred). You will assist in design, plans production, and delivering project deliverables with our Structures Team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Structural or Civil Engineering.
• EIT certification is required.
• 1–5 years of structural engineering experience (FDOT preferred).
• Experience with FDOT projects is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Perform assignments requiring knowledge and application of basic structural engineering principles.
• Assist in design and repair of highway bridges, retaining walls, and load ratings.
• Prepare project quantities and cost estimates.
• Analyze structures using structural engineering software programs.
• Prepare calculations and details for steel and concrete elements.
• Prepare structural drawings in OpenBridge, MicroStation and AutoCAD.
• Collaborate with the Structures Team.
