Job summary

BGE, Inc. is seeking an on-site Civil Construction Inspector in Houston, TX to observe and document construction activities on bridges and related infrastructure.

You will interact with contractors, municipalities, and clients to ensure compliance with contract documents. Requirements include a high school diploma or GED, 2+ years in civil construction and TXDOT inspection, and the ability to work nights/weekends.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or GED required; vocational training is a plus.
• 2+ years in civil construction inspection experience, including TXDOT inspection.
• 2+ years inspecting bridge structures and retaining walls.
• Able to work hours outside 8am-5pm, including nights, weekends and holidays.
• Must lift up to 25 lbs and communicate effectively.
• Must have a valid US driver license and pass pre-employment drug test and driving record check.

Responsibilities

• Observe construction activities by contractor or sub-contractor on bridges, walls, and other infrastructure.
• Document and report to supervisor whether activities meet contract documents.
• Perform observations and documentation for testing procedures per specifications.
• Maintain a daily job log.
• Arrange and conduct job progress meetings.
• Schedule and conduct final inspections with municipal representatives.
• Communicate directly with client representatives.
