Job summary

Sanford Contractors is seeking an experienced Bridge Foreman in North Carolina to lead and oversee bridge construction crews on site. The ideal candidate has 3+ years as a bridge foreman and a solid working knowledge of bridge construction processes and safety best practices.

You will coordinate daily crew plans, ensure adherence to NCDOT specifications, and partner with site inspectors to keep projects on schedule and within budget.

Qualifications

• 3+ years experience as a bridge foreman
• Working knowledge of bridge construction and related facets
• Experience as a skilled bridge worker, preferably crew lead man

Responsibilities

• Be punctual, dependable and professional at all times
• Work with cost effectiveness, profitability and safety in mind
• Lead by example
• Lead the safety effort by recognizing and correcting hazards as soon as they are present
• Plan the anticipated work of the crew one day in advance
• Notify superintendent this week of equipment and material needs for next week
• Identify tasks that need to be done and assign team members to support effort
• Work with/train team members who show potential and share this information with the superintendent
• Notify superintendent of assistance needed for layout work beyond your comfort level
• Work closely with the site inspector to keep him/her informed of your work plans
• Communicate time away from work with your team leader with enough notice
• Willingness to work hours as required

• Communicate time away from work with your team leader and other team members with sufficient notice to make plans for changing personnel to focus on the priorities
• Willingness to work hours as required

Labor Activities– Physical Requirements

Must be able to lift more than 50 lbs, bend, stoop, kneel, and climb ladders regularly. Work involves frequent shoveling, raking, using hand tools and handling materials in and around trenches or uneven terrain. Requires standing or walking for extended periods and working outdoors in various weather conditions.
