  • Plan the crew's work one day in advance.
  • Coordinate equipment and material needs with the superintendent.

Job description

Sanford Contractors has Bridge Foreman positions available for experienced, motivated, and dependable team members. You'll have 3+ years experience as a bridge foreman. Team member will have sufficient experience as a skilled bridge worker, preferably as a crew lead man. A working knowledge of bridge construction and the associated facets of bridge construction are also required.

Core Duties
  • Be punctual, dependable and professional at all times
  • Work with cost effectiveness, profitability and safety in mind
  • Lead by example
  • Lead the safety effort by recognizing and correcting hazards as soon as they are present. Be the #1 safety advocate for your crew
  • Plan the anticipated work of the crew one day in advance
  • Notify superintendent this week of equipment and material needs for next week
  • Identify tasks that need to be done and assign team members to support effort
  • Work with/train team members who show potential and share this information with the superintendent
  • Notify superintendent of assistance needed for layout work that is beyond your comfort level
  • Work closely with the site inspector to keep him/her informed of your work plans. Within reason, make this person an ally and not an adversary
  • Communicate time away from work with your team leader and other team members with sufficient notice to make plans for changing personnel to focus on the priorities
  • Willingness to work hours as required

Must be able to lift more than 50 lbs, bend, stoop, kneel, and climb ladders regularly. Work involves frequent shoveling, raking, using hand tools and handling materials in and around trenches or uneven terrain. Requires standing or walking for extended periods and working outdoors in various weather conditions.
