Qualifications

• OSHA safety training is required or current certification.
• Experience with tying reinforcing steel and formwork handling.
• Ability to read basic construction plans and use surveying basics.

Responsibilities

• Lead unskilled bridgeworkers and follow supervisor directions.
• Maintain safety, cost effectiveness, and productivity on site.
• Adhere to SCI safety policies and perform assigned tasks.
• Operate concrete vibrator during placement and manage formwork.
• Lead pile driving operations and use torches for welding tasks.
• Proficient with rigging and lead workers using power screed.
• Communicate scheduling changes with team and foreman.

Job description

Skilled Bridgeworker

Team member will lead unskilled bridgeworkers and receive direction from supervisors in the construction process and be willing to learn the skills necessary to improve.

Core Duties:

Be punctual, dependable and professional at all times

Work with cost effectiveness, profitability and safety in mind

Adhere to all SCI safety policies at all times

Perform tasks that have been assigned by your supervisor

Be proficient in the use of non-powered hand and basic power tools in bridge construction

Tie reinforcing steel using a tie twister

Load and discharge a concrete bucket

Install and remove concrete formwork

Operate concrete vibrator during concrete placement

Be able to lead pile driving operations

Proficient in the use of oxygen/acetylene torches

Proficent in Welding

Proficient knowledge of rigging equipment and procedures

Be proficient with and be able to lead unskilled bridge workers with work associated with a power screed

Work alone or in a small group without direct supervision from the Foreman or Superintendent

Be familiar with the basic skills of reading plans

Learn how to use basic surveying equipment to establish line and grade

Act as a role model for unskilled bridgeworkers

Communicate time away from work with your team leader and other team members with sufficient notice to make plans for changing personnel to focus on the priorities

Willingness to work hours as required

Must be able to lift more than 50 lbs, bend, stoop, kneel, and climb ladders regularly. Work involves frequent shoveling, raking, using hand tools and handling materials in and around trenches or uneven terrain. Requires standing or walking for extended periods and working outdoors in various weather conditions.
