City of New York's Department of Transportation, Division of Bridges, seeks an Assistant Civil Engineer to review design drawings and calculations for bridges and retaining walls, and to assess potential impacts of nearby construction.
Under supervision, you will conduct field inspections, review consultant invoices, and perform related engineering review tasks across major NYC bridge projects. 35‑hour work week with comprehensive benefits.

The New York City Department of Transportation, Division of Bridges is responsible for managing the full life cycle of over 800 bridges and tunnels and over 600 retaining walls, ensuring safety of the public and ensuring mobility for all users. Team members may work on major project designs, oversee construction, oversee maintenance activities, perform engineering reviews and quality assurance tasks on some of the most iconic and complex projects in the City.
Serves as an Assistant Civil Engineer in the Engineering Review section of the Engineering Review and Support Bureau, Division of Bridges. Under supervision, will review City-let Bridge design and Retaining Wall projects including design drawings and design calculations at various phases of design and construction to ensure compliance with City, State and Federal Standards. Reviews private development projects, other public agencies projects and any proposed construction work which are within close proximity of City-owned bridge structure and assesses potential impacts on the bridge structure. Performs field inspection of bridge structures and retaining walls to assess the condition and attends the site meeting as required.
Reviews invoices prepared by consultants. The selected engineer will be flexible to work on fully or any of the tasks described above depending upon the workload and performs other Engineering Review related duties if assigned.
Working knowledge of Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Excel.
Preference will be given to candidates who possess a driver's license valid in the state of New York with no restrictions. This license must be maintained throughout the duration of employment in this title.

Salary: $66,330.00 – $99,528.00
