Job summary

HDR's Idaho Bridge Group in Coeur d’Alene, ID is seeking a Bridge Engineer to join our team. You will apply structural engineering and detailing techniques for highway bridges, perform load ratings, and contribute to the design of steel plate girder, prestress concrete, and box culvert projects.

The ideal candidate will hold a PE license, have 3+ years in bridge design, and be proficient with LEAP Bridge Enterprise and related software. Strong communication and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil/structural engineering or closely related field.
• Professional engineer license recognized by the licensing board for the location of the position offered (e.g., PE).
• Experience delivering bridge projects for local clients (e.g., ITD or municipalities).
• Experience in bridge design, detailing, and load calculations.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Commitment to employee‑owned culture.

Responsibilities

• Apply structural engineering and detailing techniques for highway bridges and load ratings.
• Work on bridges (steel plate girder, prestress concrete, segmental, and cable) and related structures.
• Develop structural details using specialized design software and perform load calculations.
• Review and assist junior staff with design calculations and specifications.
• Serve as technical lead on mid‑sized projects.
• Perform other duties as needed.
