Job summary

AECOM is seeking a Bridge Engineer Intern to join our Transportation Department in Raleigh, NC (or Greenville, SC; Nashville, TN). The internship introduces hands-on skills for students transitioning to professionals, starting May 2027.

Responsibilities include assisting with designs, calculations, and coordination across disciplines. Preferred candidates are pursuing Civil/Architectural Engineering degrees with a focus on structures and may have E.I.T. registration. Hybrid work is available.

Qualifications

• Candidates must be pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or Architectural Engineering with a Structures concentration and have completed at least one year of study.
• Recent grads may apply if continuing to Master’s degree; must intend to pursue advanced degree after internship.
• Preferred: E.I.T. registration; strong writing and presentation skills; ability to travel occasionally.

Responsibilities

• Performs portions of broader assignments under mentoring by an experienced structural engineer.
• Prepares designs and calculations for structural components (steel, concrete, masonry).
• Evaluates and applies standard engineering techniques to design structural systems.
• Coordinates with other engineers for design continuity.
• Performs construction administration tasks including shop drawing review and RFI responses.
