Job summary

AECOM is hosting an exclusive Bridge Engineer Intern opportunity in the Raleigh, NC Transportation Department with options across Greenville, SC or Nashville, TN offices. The internship begins May 2027 and focuses on hands‑on skills and mentored learning for early career opportunities.

Interns will design steel, concrete, and masonry elements, learn to use AutoCAD, MicroStation, and structural software, and gain exposure to multiple disciplines alongside experienced engineers.

Qualifications

  • Pursuing Bachelor's Degree in Civil/Architectural Engineering with at least one year of study completed.
  • Ability to learn and apply structural design methods and codes.
  • Willingness to travel nights and work on bridge projects as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Perform specific portions of a broader assignment under mentoring of an experienced structural engineer.
  • Prepare designs and calculations for materials including structural steel, reinforced concrete, and masonry.
  • Coordinate with other discipline engineers for continuity of the design process.
  • Perform construction administration duties, including shop drawing review and RFI responses.
