Job summary

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD), District 58, Chase Unit, is seeking an Engineer Intern/Engineer to assist senior engineers with the Bridge Inspection Program. The role includes operation, planning, inspection, maintenance, and repair of fixed and movable bridges to ensure a safe, cost-effective maintenance program.

Eligibility for a Louisiana Engineer Intern Certificate is required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the daily operations of the District's Bridge Inspection Program and provide supervision over the Bridge Inspection and Maintenance and Bridge Electrician's gangs.
• Assist the Engineer 6 with guardrail repair contract management and coordination with contractors for repairs/replacements.
• Oversee facility projects, draft plans and sketches, provide cost estimates, ensure compliance with building codes and safety standards.
