Job summary
The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) is seeking an experienced Bridge and Structural Design Engineer to support transportation projects via bridge design, preservation, load rating, plan development, and technical support for infrastructure. Positions are located in East Baton Rouge parish and report to the Engineer 6.
Career progression may fill Engineer 3, 4, or 5, with Special Entrance Rate (SER) compensation and options for advancement within the Engineering job
Qualifications
- Possession of a current Louisiana professional engineer license (or able to obtain).
- Licenses in other states may apply, with Louisiana license required before appointment.
- Engineering licensure verified by the hiring agency.
Responsibilities
- Assist with bridge and structural design for transportation projects.
- Review or prepare plans, calculations, specs, estimates, and details.
- Perform or assist with bridge load ratings and evaluations.
- Support bridge rehabilitation, preservation, or new capacity projects.
- Coordinate with managers, consultants, districts, and construction staff.
- Review project documents for accuracy and compliance with standards.
- Contribute to development of design guidance, standards, and procedures.
- Assist with emergency response or technical bridge reviews.
