Job summary

Barge Design Solutions, Inc. in Alabama is seeking a motivated Bridge Engineering Associate to join our growing team.

You will participate in delivering infrastructure solutions that impact communities we serve and contribute to highway bridge design projects for public clients at local, county, or state levels. You will perform structural design, modeling, and calculations, assist in planning and coordination of bridge designs, and prepare reports and plans using CAD software.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from an accredited university
• EIT Certification is preferred
• 0-4 years’ experience
• Experience using AutoCAD and/or MicroStation is a plus
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret job-related manuals and documents
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
• Strong interpersonal/communication skills
• Attention to detail
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative team with surveyors, engineers, scientists, and admins
• Commitment to employee-owned culture

Responsibilities

• Design highway bridge projects for public clients at local, county, or state level
• Prepare plans, specifications and estimates for projects
• Perform structural design, modeling and calculations for highway bridge design
• Assist in planning, development, and coordination of bridge designs
• Prepare or modify reports, plans, permits, and designs for bridge projects
• Collaborate with project teams, client representatives, and review agencies
• Analyze reports, maps, drawings, and tests for planning and design
• Use CAD software to prepare engineering documents
• Perform bridge inspections and coordinate repair plans
• Attend bridge inspection site visits as needed
• Perform other duties as requested
