Job summary

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) is seeking a Bridge and Structural Design Engineer to support transportation projects through design, preservation, load rating, and plan development. Training is provided with potential for career progression in the Engineering job series.

Positions are in East Baton Rouge parish, reporting to Engineer 6, with eligibility for a Louisiana Engineer Intern Certificate.

Qualifications

Eligibility for Louisiana Engineer Intern Certificate.
Training provided; no prior engineering experience required.
Career progression through Engineer Intern Applicant, Engineer Intern 1 and Engineer Intern 2.

Responsibilities

Assist with bridge and structural design activities for transportation infrastructure projects.
Review or prepare plans, calculations, specifications, estimates, and structural details.
Perform or assist with bridge load ratings, structural evaluations, or bridge preservation activities.
Provide technical support related to bridge rehabilitation, replacement, preservation, or new capacity projects.
Coordinate with project managers, consultants, districts, construction staff, and other partners.
Review bridge-related project documentation for accuracy and compliance with standards.
Support development or maintenance of design guidance, standards, procedures, or technical documents.
Assist with emergency response or technical reviews involving bridge or structural concerns.
