Job summary
Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson (JMT) in Richmond, Virginia is seeking a Bridge Design Engineer to design transportation structures per AASHTO and VDOT specifications. The engineer will work under the project manager and collaborate with professional engineers across disciplines to deliver quality bridge projects.
The role involves structural analysis, plan development, cost estimation, submittals, and coordination with survey, roadway, and drainage teams.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in structures.
- 0-5 years of experience in design of highway bridges and transportation structures.
- Experience with structural analysis/design software (MathCAD, MicroStation or drafting software).
Responsibilities
- Assist with alternative studies and design tasks.
- Analyze survey data, drawings, and topographical data for project work.
- Develop project quantities for construction cost estimates.
- Prepare engineering documents for advertisement and construction.
- Assist with field inspection of existing structures.
