Your Opportunity + Impact
The Engineer functions as a technical leader and is required to have a Professional Engineer (PE) license and relevant work experience. This position will coordinate overall design activities, project submission schedules, and will be responsible for additional Quality Assurance and Quality Control duties to help ensure the final products meet the technical requirements and goals of the client.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Prepares and reviews design computations, plan designs, and drawings.
  2. Reviews submittals and coordinates project submissions.
  3. Prepares and reviews specifications, draft letters, and written technical reports.
  4. Completes inspections and field work assignments as needed.
  5. Researches, reviews, interprets, and understands written regulations, code compliance, and permit requirements and applies them to design projects.
  6. Maintains appropriate documentation of work and project records.
  7. Possesses knowledge of Codes and Standards applicable to project designs.
  8. Develops technically accurate, clean, and deliverable drawings.
  9. Promotes, utilizes, and supports quality assurance and quality control processes to improve the quality of deliverables and reduce design errors and omissions.
  10. Performs work within assigned budgets.

Education + Experience

  1. Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in relevant Engineering field from ABET-accredited school, or related field of study.
  2. Minimum of 5 years of job-related experience. PennDOT or Pennsylvania Turnpike bridge design experience preferred.
  3. Licensure/Certification: Professional Engineer (PE) required.
  4. Thorough knowledge of the design and development process of transportation bridge projects, and familiarity with AASHTO and PennDOT Design Manuals, Standards, Specifications, Engineering Software, and Microstation.
  5. Understanding of and ability to prepare bridge design, bridge construction plans, and specifications, including special provisions and related project documents.

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Proficiency with Microstation, Open Roads, InRoads (Surfaces and Templates), and related software.
  2. Strong desire to expand knowledge and undertake new responsibilities.
  3. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  4. Strong oral & written communication skills, organizational & time management skills.
  5. Ability to work independently and as part of a project team.
