Job summary

The New York State Thruway Authority is seeking a Civil/Transportation engineer to work through the Department of Engineering’s Office of Design in Albany. The role emphasizes adherence to NYS design standards and Manuals, with proficiency in MicroStation and Inroads preferred.

Responsibilities include delivering design services for bridge repair and reconstruction, preparing reports, plans, and PS&E, and coordinating with consultants as projects advance through construction.

Qualifications

• Passing the FE exam (NCEES) is required for candidates.
• Bachelor's degree in engineering or engineering technology.
• One year of qualifying engineering experience may be required for some tracks.

Responsibilities

• Provide professional engineering design services for bridge repair, rehabilitation, and reconstruction projects of varying complexity in support of the Capital Program.
• Prepare design reports/studies, plans, specifications, engineer’s estimates (PS&E), design calculations and other technical elements of a bridge or highway project.
• Prepare scopes of services, track progress of projects and evaluate consultants.
• Provide construction support as projects progress through construction.
