Job summary

The South Carolina Department of Transportation seeks a Crane Operator on a Bridge Maintenance Crew reporting to the Simpsonville Section Shed. You will operate the crane daily, complete maintenance reports, and perform pile driving with attachments as needed.

The role requires a Class A CDL within six months, a valid driver's license, and physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs. You may work outside normal hours, including 12-hour shifts or during severe weather, and will coordinate traffic

Qualifications

• Three and one-half (3.5) years of related work experience or equivalent.
• Must possess a valid motor vehicle operator’s license.
• Must obtain Class A CDL within six months of placement.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and work in varying environmental conditions.

Responsibilities

• Operate the crane on a Bridge Maintenance Crew and maintain daily maintenance reports.
• Perform pile driving with attached equipment as required.
• Oversee assembly and disassembly of the crane for transport to job sites.
• Coordinate placement of traffic control devices for work zones per guidelines.
• Perform bridge maintenance with medium equipment (skid steer), tools, and welders as needed.
• Work during emergencies or inclement weather; may require extended hours or 12-hour shifts.
