Job summary

Journey Group, a full-service construction firm based in Sioux Falls, SD, seeks a Bridge Construction Assistant Superintendent to oversee daily civil operations and assist planning with cost analysis, scheduling, and coordination of labor, materials, and equipment.

You will help organize job sites, monitor productivity, ensure safety compliance, and communicate with owners, designers, and subcontractors to resolve conflicts while promoting a safety-first culture on site.

Qualifications

• Experience with reading blueprints/plans and following OSHA-safe practices.
• Strong leadership, organization, and teamwork abilities.
• Proficient communication and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Take on increasing responsibility for daily civil construction operations while observing and learning from experienced team members.
• Assist with project planning, including cost analysis, budgeting, scheduling, and coordination of labor, materials, and equipment.
• Organize and maintain an efficient job site, including material storage, equipment placement, parking, and daily activity reporting.
• Monitor field productivity and support compliance with safety, best management practices, erosion control, and required inspections.
• Communicate effectively with Superintendents, Project Managers, owners, designers, subcontractors, and other stakeholders to resolve construction conflicts.
• Support a strong safety culture through toolbox talks, safety meetings, and observations while maintaining confidentiality in all operations.
