Job summary

The Walsh Group is seeking a Carpenter for the Central Transportation Group/Charenton Bridge Replacement in Jeanerette, Louisiana. You will construct and install wooden structures for bridges and related works using hand tools, power tools, and woodworking machinery on heavy civil projects.

Applicants should have 3-5 years of verifiable carpentry experience, ability to climb and balance on scaffolds, and be able to lift up to 50 lbs.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years verifiable carpentry experience preferred.
• Ability to climb and balance on scaffold/ladder.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs; may be required to work in adverse weather conditions.
• Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screening.
• Possess a strong work ethic and desire to learn.

Responsibilities

• Measures distance and marks guidelines on working surface to prepare for laying down work.
• Prepares, builds, and installs wooden structures in line with prefabricated units to form bridge, drain structures, walls, and additional structures.
• May assist with installation of awnings, metal decking for concrete slabs (if decking is removed).
• Uses carpenter’s belt with carpentry hand tools, power tools, and other wood making machinery.
