Job summary

We are currently seeking a Bridge Carpenter to join Wagman Heavy Civil, Inc. in a role reporting to direct supervision.

The Bridge Carpenter will perform carpentry duties on bridge demolition and rebuild projects, including forming systems, pouring concrete, cutting and measuring wood, and working with abutments and bridge decks as part of the project team to meet deadlines. This safety sensitive position requires construction site work with inherent hazards and is subject to drug testing and

Qualifications

• High School graduate or G.E.D. preferred with basic reading and writing skills
• Experience building bridges; Ability to communicate effectively and take instructions; construction experience, concrete knowledge
• Minimum of 3 years experience as a Journeyman Bridge Carpenter
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong prioritization and organizational skills; detail-oriented

Responsibilities

• Construct built-in-place or prefabricated wooden and/or metal forms, according to specifications, for molding concrete structures such as piers, footers, retaining walls, abutments, parapets, caps, columns and bridge decks
• Saw lumber per blueprint dimensions, using handsaw or power saw, and nail lumber together to make form panels
• Lift and handle built-in-place forms and/or assembles, erects and installs prefabricated forms
• Insert spreaders and tie rods between opposite faces of form to maintain specified dimensions
• Anchor and brace forms to fixed objects, using nails, bolts, anchor rods, steel cables, and planks
• Build rough wooden structures such as scaffolds, temporary frame shelters, overhang jacks and safety railings
• Lift and set rails for finishing machine
• Pour concrete in forms and decks which requires vibrating, shoveling and raking. Also assists concrete finishers
