Job summary

The State of Indiana's Department of Transportation seeks a Bridge Asset Engineer to lead district-level asset management of bridges, aligning capital and maintenance investments with statewide objectives. This senior role requires PE licensure and extensive civil/transportation engineering experience, with proficiency in bridge design software

Qualifications

• Indiana PE license is mandatory.

The Bridge Asset Engineer leads district-level bridge asset management efforts for the Indiana Department of Transportation, focusing on strategic planning and oversight of capital and maintenance investments for bridge infrastructure. This role analyzes inspection data, identifies investment needs, maintains the bridge asset management plan, and provides technical guidance to ensure alignment with statewide objectives and policy conformance.

Key qualifications:

• Indiana Professional Engineer license required
• 8+ years of experience in engineering, civil engineering, transportation research, or closely related field
• Broad knowledge of civil engineering theories, principles, and highway/transportation project design and construction
• Proficiency with bridge design software (CONSPAN, RC-Pier, GEOMATH, Merlin Dash) and INDOT systems (SPMS, dTIMS, ArcGIS, WMS)
• Knowledge of Indiana Design Manual (IDM), Indiana Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices (IMUTCD), and INDOT specifications
• Ability to prepare and review complex design plans and provide technical recommendations
