Job description

The Bridge Asset Engineer reviews asset data and develops fiscally balanced maintenance plans to keep approximately 800 bridges in the Fort Wayne District in good repair. This position serves as the district's bridge expert, supervises a Culvert Asset Engineer and two Small Culvert Inspectors, and provides engineering recommendations for complex maintenance and rehabilitation projects. The role requires a registered Professional Engineer license in Indiana and at least eight years of experience in civil engineering or a related transportation field.

Key qualifications:

• Registered Professional Engineer license in Indiana required
• At least 8 years of experience in engineering, civil engineering, transportation research, or closely related field
• Broad knowledge of civil engineering theories, principles, methods, and procedures applied to highway and transportation projects
• Working knowledge of Indiana Design Manual (IDM), IMUTCD, INDOT standard specifications, and systems such as SPMS, dTIMS, ArcGIS, and WMS
• Ability to use bridge design software such as CONSPAN, RC-Pier, GEOMATH, and Merlin Dash
• Willingness to travel with appropriate accommodation and ability to supervise direct reports
