Job summary

Thimble Alterations seeks an experienced bridal seamstress to work one-on-one with brides through the entire alteration process. This independent contractor role features flexible bookings arranged through our platform, serving clients in the Freeport, ME area.

You will conduct fittings, tailor gowns (hemming, bodice shaping, neckline adjustments, sleeves), create bustles, and manage ceremony attire alongside bridesmaids and mother-of-the-bride gowns. Strong client communication is essential.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated bridal alteration experience is preferred.
• Confident handling of high-value gowns and the patience to fit them properly.
• Strong customer-facing presence; ability to reassure brides.
• Reliable workspace with space for fittings and steaming.

Responsibilities

• Conduct first, second, and final fittings with brides for wedding gowns.
• Customize gowns: hemming, side seams, bodice shaping, neckline adjustments, sleeve modifications.
• Create bustles tailored to dress design and bride’s preference.
• Handle bridesmaid dresses and ceremony attire alongside the main gown.
• Explain timelines and what to expect on the day to brides.
