Job summary

Devils Backbone Brewing Company in Lexington, VA is seeking a Brewer to operate our 120-barrel automated brewing systems, including milling, mashing, lautering, boiling, hop additions, and wort cooling. You will handle pre- and post-cleaning and cellar tasks, yeast pitching, filtration, and CIP duties, with a 5x8-hour shift pattern.

24/7 hours may be required. You should be punctual, self-motivated, and able to thrive in a team setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Must be 21-years of age.
• Minimum of two years of brewing experience as assistant brewer or brewer preferred.
• Brewing education, certification, or undergraduate education preferred.
• Must be able to operate forklift (training provided), and a pallet jack.
• General knowledge of practices, methods, tools, and equipment used in production and pub-style brewing.
• General knowledge of occupational hazards and necessary safety precautions in production.

Responsibilities

• Continually maintain all beer production areas and equipment.
• Assist maintenance technicians with equipment maintenance and repairs.
• Follow daily and weekly cleaning schedules to maintain a clean working environment.
• Attend production meetings and contribute to product improvement.
• Operate and monitor electronic and computerized brew systems.
• Work with brewing team to achieve quality targets and production goals.
