Job summary

Moffitt Cancer Center is seeking a Surgical Scheduling Coordinator Specialist to coordinate patient appointments across multiple resources and ensure accurate scheduling. You will manage pre-op and ancillary service scheduling, communicate with the surgical team, patients, and families, and maintain high levels of customer service.

The role requires hospital or outpatient experience, medical terminology knowledge, and proficiency with Microsoft Office.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or GED required; Associate’s Degree preferred.
• Minimum one year experience in a hospital, outpatient facility, or physician office or equivalent healthcare experience.
• Minimum one year customer service experience required.
• Medical terminology required; computer skills and knowledge of all Microsoft applications; excellent verbal communication and strong organizational skills.
• Prefer two or more years’ experience in hospital/outpatient facility or physician office environment.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate patient appointments involving multiple resources and complex record gathering.
• Schedule surgical cases for assigned providers and clinical areas; review orders for accuracy.
• Make arrangements for pre-op and ancillary services and communicate with patients, family, and surgical team.
• Serve as a liaison among departments and patients, ensuring timely communication and high service levels.
• Provide administrative support to outpatient programs; manage consultation requests and notify patients of scheduling changes.
• Interpret orders accurately and act as a preceptor for new hires.
