Job summary

AdventHealth Shawnee Mission in Shawnee Mission, Kansas is seeking a Mammography Technologist for Full-Time Day shifts (Monday–Friday, 8:30 a.m.–5:00 p.m.). The role is outpatient and includes no weekends or holidays.

Perform high-quality screening and diagnostic mammography, ensure patient comfort and safety, adhere to MQSA and ACR guidelines, and collaborate with radiologists to provide timely, accurate results.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of Mammography and Diagnostic Radiological Procedures/Positions (Required)
• Ability to determine appropriate technical factors (Required)
• Knowledge of Mammography equipment and MQSA and ACR regulations (Required)
• Ability to learn and master new tasks related to Image Quality and Radiation Safety (Required)
• Ability to communicate effectively and work with people of various backgrounds (Required)
• Ability to complete Mammography exams in a timely manner under stress (Required)
• Must be able to read, write and speak conversational English (Required)
• Must maintain all required registries and licenses to perform imaging procedures (Required)
• Ability to follow Basic Radiation Safety concepts to keep exposure ALARA (Required)
• Performance of 2D and 3D mammography exams (Required)

Responsibilities

• Participates in patient tracking and follow-up processes, recalls and biopsy scheduling as required by workflows
• Supports breast center initiatives, accreditation preparation and quality improvement activities
• Follows department protocols for patient identification, informed consent and time-out procedures
• Maintains documentation within EMR and PACS systems
• Performs high-quality examinations in accordance with orders and protocols
• Ensures exam rooms are clean, stocked, and safe, with equipment checked regularly
• Notifies personnel when inventory is low and conducts daily QC checks
• Positions patients and operates mammography equipment to obtain optimal images
• Explains procedures clearly and addresses questions with professionalism
• Follows MQSA, FDA, and ACR guidelines including QC testing and documentation
• Collaborates with radiologists for accurate imaging and timely results
• Performs other duties as assigned
