Job summary

AdventHealth Shawnee Mission in Shawnee Mission, Kansas is seeking a Mammography Technologist for Full-Time Day shifts (Monday–Friday, 8:30 a.m.–5:00 p.m.). The role is outpatient and includes no weekends or holidays.

Perform high-quality screening and diagnostic mammography, ensure patient comfort and safety, adhere to MQSA and ACR guidelines, and collaborate with radiologists to provide timely, accurate results.

Responsibilities

• Participates in patient tracking and follow-up processes, recalls and biopsy scheduling as required by workflows
• Supports breast center initiatives, accreditation preparation and quality improvement activities
• Follows department protocols for patient identification, informed consent and time-out procedures
• Maintains documentation within EMR and PACS systems
• Performs high-quality examinations in accordance with orders and protocols
• Ensures exam rooms are clean, stocked, and safe, with equipment checked regularly
• Notifies personnel when inventory is low and conducts daily QC checks
• Positions patients and operates mammography equipment to obtain optimal images
• Explains procedures clearly and addresses questions with professionalism
• Follows MQSA, FDA, and ACR guidelines including QC testing and documentation
• Collaborates with radiologists for accurate imaging and timely results
• Performs other duties as assigned

Job Description:

Performs high-quality screening and diagnostic mammographic examinations and procedures in accordance with physician orders, regulatory guidelines, and departmental protocols. This role ensures patient comfort and safety, provides accurate imaging for interpretation by radiologists, and maintains compliance with MQSA and ACR standards while supporting a positive patient experience.

Job Responsibilities:

• • Participates in patient tracking and follow-up processes, assisting with recalls, additional imaging coordination, and biopsy scheduling as required by departmental workflows.
• • Supports breast center initiatives, such as accreditation preparation, community screening events, or quality improvement activities.
• • Follows department protocols for patient identification, informed consent, and time-out procedures prior to starting exams.
• • Maintains accurate and timely documentation within the electronic medical record (EMR) and PACS systems.
• • Performs high-quality examinations in accordance with provider orders and departmental protocols, ensuring optimal image quality for accurate diagnosis.
• • Ensures exam rooms are clean, stocked, and ready for use, and that all equipment undergoes routine cleaning and safety checks.
• • Notifies appropriate personnel when inventory is low. Performs and documents daily system quality control (QC) checks in compliance with departmental policies and regulatory requirements.
• • Positions patients and operates mammography equipment to obtain optimal images, adjusting technical factors and compression as needed.
• • Ensures patient identification, safety, and comfort, explaining procedures clearly and addressing questions or concerns with professionalism and compassion.
• • Follows all MQSA, FDA, and ACR guidelines, including quality control testing, equipment performance checks, and documentation requirements.
• • Collaborates with radiologists and breast imaging team to ensure accurate imaging and timely communication of results or next steps.
• • Performs other duties as assigned.
