Job summary

NBCUniversal is seeking an Assignment Editor in Philadelphia to lead coverage of breaking news both editorially and logistically. The ideal candidate will have at least 4 years of experience in a broadcast news environment, coordinating assignments and generating story ideas. A Bachelor’s degree in Journalism or Communications is required.

This full-time on-site position requires strong interpersonal skills, the ability to work independently, and a passion for news across multiple platforms.

Qualifications

• At least 4 years’ experience in a broadcast news environment.
• Two years’ experience as an Assignment Editor.
• Able to work independently and in a team.

Responsibilities

• Lead coverage of breaking news stories for newsroom and field crews.
• Research and implement coverage of breaking news.
• Collaborate with website and social media teams.

Skills

Working knowledge of Police Scanners

Working knowledge of live production/transmission

Ability to clearly communicate ideas and status updates to both editorial and technical teams

Coordinating assignments

Proficient in Microsoft Office Programs

Bilingual – Spanish/English

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Journalism or Communications
