Job summary

Creative Dining Services is seeking a Breakfast / Prep Cook for Brandywine Creek Conference Center in Covert, MI. This full-time, hourly role supports our main kitchen to provide high-quality, nutritious food, prepared to established menus in a safe, responsible manner.

You will work Monday–Friday from 5:00a to 2:30p, with emphasis on teamwork, proper labeling, and timely service. Prior cooking experience is required or preferred, with ServSafe certification advantageous.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years cooking experience.
• High School diploma or equivalent preferred, but not required.
• ServSafe Certification preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

• Time food production so all food is ready at the time of service.
• Prepare food items according to established menus to preserve quality.
• Utilize safe food handling techniques at all times.
• Store food items with proper labeling and dating.
• Maintain established logs of temperatures and related data.
• Maintain a clean and sanitized work area.
• Open and/or close the kitchen and secure areas as needed.
• Maintain a safe, tidy, well-organized work environment at all times.
• Communicate needs and concerns to supervisor promptly.
• Monitor kitchen equipment and report discrepancies immediately.
• Assist with pulling stock and stocking as needed.

Brandywine Creek Conference Center is looking for a Breakfast / Prep Cook to join our team! The Cook will work in our main kitchen to ensure that high-quality, properly seasoned, nutritious food is being provided throughout the operation, in a fiscally responsible and safe manner. Works cooperatively as a valued member of the dining services team, along with assisting with any baking needs when they arise.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities

• Time food production such that all food is ready at the time of service (Multi-Tasking / Independent Working is Required)
• Prepare food items according to established menus in a manner in which preserves food freshness, quality and appeal
• Utilize safe food handling techniques at all times
• Store food items according to established standards of practice; utilize proper labeling and dating
• Maintain established logs (food temperatures, cooling temperatures, cooler & freezer temperatures, etc.)
• Maintain a clean and sanitized work area
• If work shift requires, properly open and/or close the kitchen – unlocking/locking doors & secured areas, and turning on/turning off of all equipment essential to the operation
• Maintain a safe, tidy and well-organized work environment at all times; clean up spills quickly, wear protective gear as needed (i.e: slicer glove), and store wares in a safely
• Communicate needs and concerns regarding food production and kitchen operation to supervisor appropriately, and in a timely manner
• Monitor kitchen equipment for proper functioning; report any discrepancies to supervisor immediately
• Putting away/pulling stock as needed

Physical Demands/Work Environment

The Cook position involves the physical work of preparing food in a commercial kitchen environment. These responsibilities include moving inventory, product, and carts - as well as food preparation and production using kitchen utensils and commercial kitchen equipment. Environment may include hot, humid, or cold temperatures. May require extended working hours at times. Must be able to lift and carry 25 lbs.
