The Sonnenalp Club is seeking a full-time Barista / Attendant for our Breakfast Pantry. This position is responsible for providing exceptional service while preparing coffee beverages, processing orders, serving food, maintaining the Pantry’s presentation, and creating a welcoming experience for members and guests.
Wage: $17.00 per hour, plus tips
Typical Schedule: Must be available to work early mornings, weekends, and holidays.
Primary Purpose of Position
The Breakfast Pantry Barista / Attendant is responsible for delivering exceptional service to Sonnenalp Club members and guests. Responsibilities include taking and entering orders, preparing coffee and menu items, serving food and nonalcoholic beverages, processing payments, and maintaining a clean, organized, and fully stocked Pantry throughout the shift.
The attendant must be able to prioritize responsibilities, manage time effectively, and work independently. This position requires a friendly, professional demeanor and the ability to remain organized and attentive during high-volume periods. At all times, the attendant is expected to anticipate member needs and ensure every guest feels welcomed, comfortable, and valued.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Open and prepare the Breakfast Pantry for daily service
- Complete all assigned opening, closing, and weekly side-work duties
- Prepare the Pantry, display case, coffee station, service areas, and outdoor seating for business
- Ensure condiments, cups, lids, utensils, napkins, packaging, and other supplies are fully stocked
- Maintain an attractive and professional display of all food and beverage products
- Prepare coffee, espresso beverages, smoothies, and other menu items according to established recipes and presentation standards
- Accurately enter orders into the POS system and process cash, credit card, member-charge, and other approved forms of payment
- Maintain accurate cash-handling procedures and complete daily checkout responsibilities
- Maintain knowledge of all menu items, ingredients, allergens, prices, and preparation methods
- Stay informed about current menu selections, daily specials, product availability, and menu changes
- Answer member and guest questions regarding food and beverage offerings
- Make recommendations and suggest additional menu items when appropriate
- Serve food and nonalcoholic beverages while creating professional and caring relationships with members and guests
- Assist with takeout orders and provide service to indoor and outdoor seating areas
- Greet all members and guests warmly while consistently maintaining professional appearance and service standards
- Communicate product needs and low inventory to management before items run out
- Restock, organize, and clean the coffee machine, display case, refrigerators, storage areas, and service stations
- Assist with designated club events, golf leagues, meetings, and other Pantry-related functions
- Accurately ring in events and group charges according to established procedures
- Perform basic cleaning and sanitation duties as needed or directed by management
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized working environment for employees, members, and guests
- Maintain knowledge of Sonnenalp Club amenities, activities, events, and dining outlets
- Assist other Food and Beverage outlets or team members when business needs require
- Fill in for absent employees when needed
- Follow all grooming, uniform, food-safety, sanitation, and appearance standards
- Participate in Food and Beverage training programs, including coffee, menu, food-safety, and service training
- Act as a responsible, personable, and professional representative of the Sonnenalp Club
Education and Experience
- One year of barista or food and beverage service experience preferred
- Previous experience with espresso equipment and POS systems preferred
- Must be at least 18 years of age

- Must be prepared to work a variable schedule, including early mornings, weekends, and holidays
Essential Physical Requirements
- Position is primarily performed indoors, with occasional service in outdoor seating areas
- Business levels and working conditions will vary by season
- Ability to regularly lift and carry up to 40 pounds
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
- Ability to bend, reach, lift, and perform repetitive tasks throughout the shift
