The Residence Inn by Marriott Huntsville/MidCity is seeking a dependable, energetic, and guest-focused Breakfast Attendant to provide an exceptional breakfast experience for our guests while ensuring full compliance with Residence Inn and Marriott Brand Standards, food-safety requirements, and hotel operating procedures.
The Breakfast Attendant is responsible for the preparation, presentation, replenishment, cleanliness, and overall operation of the hotel’s complimentary breakfast service. This position plays an important role in creating a welcoming environment and ensuring that every guest begins their day with excellent service and a clean, well-maintained breakfast area.
Maintain the breakfast area in accordance with all applicable Residence Inn by Marriott Brand Standards, breakfast requirements, and property SOPs.
Ensure all required breakfast items are available, properly displayed, labeled, prepared, and presented according to hotel standards.
Follow established breakfast setup, service, and closing procedures consistently.
Maintain proper food temperatures and complete required temperature and food-safety logs.
Ensure food is rotated according to FIFO procedures and expiration dates are checked daily.
Immediately notify management of any product shortages, equipment issues, food-quality concerns, or conditions that could affect brand compliance.
Participate in Marriott brand inspections, quality-assurance reviews, internal audits, and management walkthroughs as required.
Arrive on time to ensure breakfast is completely prepared and ready before the scheduled opening time.
Prepare and arrange hot and cold breakfast items according to established procedures.
Continuously monitor the breakfast buffet and replenish food, beverages, utensils, plates, cups, condiments, and other supplies before items become depleted.
Maintain an attractive and organized breakfast presentation throughout the entire service period.
Monitor guest volume and adjust food preparation to minimize waste while ensuring adequate availability.
Maintain coffee, juice, beverage, and condiment stations throughout breakfast service.
Properly break down and store approved food items following breakfast service.
Clean and sanitize breakfast equipment, counters, serving areas, tables, chairs, floors, and back-of-house preparation areas.
Greet guests warmly and professionally.
Provide friendly, courteous, and attentive service in accordance with Marriott hospitality standards.
Assist guests with questions regarding breakfast selections, hotel amenities, and general hotel information when appropriate.
Respond promptly to guest requests and concerns.
Communicate any significant guest concerns to the Manager on Duty.
Maintain a positive and professional attitude, even during high-volume breakfast periods.
Follow all local, state, federal, Marriott, and property food-safety and sanitation requirements.
Wash hands and use gloves appropriately when handling food.
Prevent cross-contamination and maintain proper separation of food products.
Keep all food-preparation and service areas clean and sanitized throughout the shift.
Remove trash as needed and maintain clean trash receptacles.
Sweep and mop breakfast and kitchen areas as required.
Ensure equipment is properly cleaned, sanitized, stored, and secured after use.
Report damaged or malfunctioning equipment immediately.
Assist with maintaining appropriate breakfast inventory levels.
Notify management when food, beverage, or operating supplies need to be ordered.
Help receive, organize, date, rotate, and properly store deliveries.
Minimize unnecessary food waste while maintaining Marriott-required product availability and presentation standards.
Follow management procedures regarding portion control and product usage.
Previous hotel, restaurant, breakfast, food-service, or customer-service experience preferred.
Ability to provide friendly and professional guest service.
Strong attention to cleanliness, organization, presentation, and detail.
Ability to follow recipes, preparation instructions, food-safety requirements, and Marriott brand standards.
Must be dependable and able to report to work for early-morning shifts.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Ability to communicate effectively with guests, coworkers, and management.
Food-handler certification
The employee must be able to:
Stand and walk for extended periods.
Bend, reach, lift, push, and pull throughout the shift.
Lift approximately 25–40 pounds when necessary.
Safely operate breakfast and kitchen equipment.
Work in an environment involving hot food, heated equipment, refrigeration, and cleaning products.
Breakfast Attendants must be available for early-morning shifts 5am-12pm, including weekends and holidays based on hotel occupancy and operational needs. Employees are expected to arrive with sufficient time to ensure the breakfast area is fully prepared and 100% guest-ready before the scheduled breakfast opening time.
