Job description

Breakfast Attendant

The Breakfast Attendant is responsible for providing exceptional service to guests in an efficient and courteous manner within the complimentary breakfast area of a hotel.

Responsibilities
  1. Approach all encounters with guests and employees in an attentive, friendly, courteous, and service-oriented manner.
  2. Maintain a high standard of personal appearance and grooming, including wearing the proper uniform and name tag when working.
  3. Greet and seat guests at appropriate tables in a timely manner.
  4. Ensure quality control of menus with regard to cleanliness and appearance.
  5. Clear, clean, and reset tables/hotel spaces as per client request or management instruction.
  6. Ensure all service areas are stocked, organized, clean, and neat, and all side work is complete each shift.
  7. Accommodate any special requests made by a guest and offer appropriate alternatives when necessary.
  8. Communicate with all departments regarding in-house VIPs.
  9. Support all areas of beverage and food service, including washing dishes, restocking, sweeping, mopping, and moving trash.
  10. Have a complete knowledge of standards of service for room service orders.
  11. Thoroughly know menus and current specials in all applicable departments.
  12. Carry out cashiering functions, including closing checks and shift paperwork.
  13. Perform opening and closing procedures and side work duties as assigned.
  14. Answer questions about the hotel, local area attractions, and things to do.
  15. Perform any other duties or attend meetings as requested by management.
  16. Produce high-quality drinks, including specialty coffee, tea, cocktails, and other beverage requests.
Qualifications
  1. Ability to perform job functions with attention to detail, speed, and accuracy.
  2. High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
  3. Willingness to work a varied schedule, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
  4. Must meet legal age requirements to serve alcohol and pass responsible serving courses such as TIPs.
  5. Ability to obtain and provide a Food Handlers card as required.
  6. Ability to evaluate and select among alternative actions quickly and accurately.
  7. Ability to handle stressful situations professionally.
  8. Understanding of hotel products and guest services.
  9. Effective communication skills with guests and team members.
  10. Positive attitude and a desire to serve others.
  11. Basic knowledge of food and beverage service standards and guest etiquette.
  12. Basic numerical skills for operations.
  13. Ability to read, comprehend, and write simple instructions and memos.
  14. Patience, tact, and diplomacy in dealing with guests and staff.
  15. Willingness to learn and support team members.
