Job summary

HDT Global in Ohio seeks an experienced assembler/brazing technician to build and troubleshoot prototypes and complex units. You will follow drawings, lay out plumbing, braze refrigeration lines, and assist with design for manufacturability while maintaining safety and quality standards.

The role requires ability to read diagrams, operate power tools, and lift heavy parts. Prior HVAC experience and at least five years in the field are preferred; training will occur on-site.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years industry experience preferred.
  • High School diploma or GED preferred.
  • Experience in HVAC preferred.
  • Ability to read diagrams and designs.
  • Operation of small power tools, other hand tools and high-pressure equipment.
  • Frequent lifting up to 50 lbs., occasional up to 75 lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Able to build and troubleshoot prototypes and one-off designs independently.
  • Able to follow instructions and drawings to complete tasks on schedule.
  • Layout plumbing runs and braze refrigeration lines inside product.
  • Use nitrogen to eliminate soot and wrap sensitive parts.
  • Report shop floor production data via computer or written reports.
  • Support project teams and adhere to quality and safety standards.

The primary function of this position is utilizing proper assembly and brazing techniques on complex and varied units with limited instruction. Work is done independently or under minimal supervision. Ability to work thru problem solving as needed. Able to offer input in the design for manufacturability.

Essential Duties:
  • Able to build and troubleshoot prototypes and one-off designs independently
  • Follows visual and written work instructions, as well as drawing package in order to complete assigned tasks within set time allotted
  • Ability to think through field serviceability of the unit
  • Ability to independently lay out plumbing runs and mark up drawing with proper bend radius and braze refrigeration lines inside of product
  • Ability to properly use nitrogen to eliminate soot and wraps sensitive parts
  • Accurately reports shop floor production data via computer terminal and/or written reporting
  • Performs cycle counting of parts and material handling duties as required
  • Supports, communicates, reinforces and defends the mission, values and culture of the organization
  • Adheres to all quality and safety standards
  • Supports other projects and performs duties as assigned
Education/Experience/Other Skills & Abilities:
  • Minimum 5 years industry experience preferred
  • High School diploma or GED preferred
  • Experience in HVAC preferred
  • Ability to work from verbal and written instructions
  • Ability to read diagrams and designs
  • Operation of small power tools, other hand tools and computerized and high-pressure equipment
  • Goal oriented and team focused to ensure completion of projects in a timely manner
  • Frequent lifting of up to 50 lbs., occasional lifting up to 75 lbs.
  • Ability to climb ladders, bend, kneel, work overhead with arms, and sit or stand for several hours at a time
  • Eye/hand coordination required, with steady and agile hands to operate equipment and tools
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job includes close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
  • Ability to wear proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), as required per plant rules
