Job summary

Kennametal Inc. in Bedford, PA is seeking a Braze Operator I to join our 1st shift. The role brazes carbide tips onto steel bodies using electrical induction heating and conducts visual inspections during assembly.

Safety, lean, TPM and 5S are integral to daily duties, with a focus on data accuracy and meeting daily production targets. Two weeks of PTO and subsidized healthcare start day one.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Basic math, blueprint reading and gauge-reading comprehension.
• Ability to understand written and oral instructions and communicate with supervisors and coworkers.

Responsibilities

• Perform pre-operation checks for machines and work area.
• Assemble conical bit bodies, braze material, and carbide tips; operate braze line to meet daily production rates.
• Inspect parts to meet ISO requirements.
• Support functions and change-overs to meet due dates.
• Track materials used and work to reduce cost.
• Manage WIP and components; perform cycle counts.
• Participate in lean events and apply lean processes daily.
• Perform TPM on equipment daily.
• Perform 5S in the work area.
• Record production and quality data accurately.
