Job summary

PlanetScale is seeking a Brand Designer to shape and evolve our visual identity across all touchpoints. You will translate complex database concepts into compelling visuals, and craft experiences from web graphics to event environments that resonate with developers and technical leaders.

You will lead design across campaigns, product launches, and marketing initiatives, while collaborating with senior teams to maintain brand coherence.

Qualifications

• A strong portfolio across digital, print, and experiential design.
• Deep understanding of typography, color, composition, and visual hierarchy.
• Experience integrating AI into design workflows and building processes around it.
• Comfortable designing in both brand and production modes with attention to detail.
• Strong communication skills to articulate design decisions and directions.
• Self-directed with ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
• Collaborative mindset and openness to feedback while preserving creative vision.

Responsibilities

• Develop visual brand systems and campaigns for web, print, and events.
• Design booth graphics, signage, and experiential branding for conferences and meetups.
• Create website components, landing pages, data visualizations, social graphics, and blog imagery.
• Build templates and design systems to enable rapid team execution.
