Job summary

Montgomery County Public Libraries seeks a Senior Librarian (Branch Supervisor) to lead a branch, supervise staff, and deliver excellent customer service. The role supports diversity, equity and inclusion, trains personnel, and collaborates with community partners to meet educational and informational needs. Evening/weekend flexibility is required.

The position emphasizes leadership, program development, and community outreach within MCPL’s multi-branch system.

Qualifications

Four (4) years of professional library experience.
Master’s degree in Library Science or Library Information Science from an ALA-accredited program.
Equivalency: None.
Continuing Education Units (CEUs) maintenance required to sustain licensing.

Responsibilities

Promote and support MCPL’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion values.
Ensure delivery of excellent customer service by guiding staff and solving problems.
Lead day-to-day operations and supervise branch staff.
Serve as on-site supervisor: training, evaluating, coaching and mentoring staff.
Develop, provide, and evaluate training for a diverse staff.
Work with Collection Management to maintain the branch collection.
Respond to customer concerns, suggestions, and complaints.
Participate in workgroups and committees to improve communication across the organization.
