Job summary

Scioto County Public Library is seeking a Branch Associate to support reference and research services, assist with readers’ advisory, and manage patron holds. The role includes programming for a range of ages, collaborating with other branches, and contributing to displays that reflect the library’s collections.

The position requires a Bachelor’s Degree and 1–3 years of relevant experience, including library exposure.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree required.
1–3 years’ work experience; includes work experience with children and/or library experience.
Ability to meet scheduled hours including evenings and weekends.
Driver’s license, car insurance, and access to reliable transportation.
Commitment to excellence in customer service and representing the library positively.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to use Microsoft Office Suite and learn new software/technology.

Responsibilities

Assist patrons in-person and via telephone with public service duties including reference and readers’ advisory services, circulation, and online catalog instruction.
Plan, prepare, and present programming in-house, in the community, and virtually.
Participate in collection development and maintenance; assist with book ordering and budget maintenance.
