Job description

Overview

Location: Fishers, IndianaPosition Type: Full-Time | On-Site / Field and Office Based

About the Role

FSG is seeking an experienced Branch Safety Lead - Electrical Constructionto take ownership of safety operations for our Indiana branch.

This is a senior individual-contributor position and does not directly manage a safety team. Instead, you will serve as the branch's primary safety professional and subject-matter expert, partnering directly with project managers, superintendents, foremen, field employees, and company leadership to maintain safe, compliant, and productive jobsites.

You will oversee and support safety across approximately 10–15 active projects at a time, primarily within commercial and industrial electrical construction. This is a hands-on field role for someone who is comfortable visiting jobsites, identifying hazards, coaching field personnel, conducting training and investigations, and taking ownership of the branch's overall safety performance.

The right candidate understands electrical construction, knows how to communicate effectively with field teams, and can balance regulatory compliance with the realities of an active construction environment.

Responsibilities
  • Serve as the primary safety professional for the Indianapolis branch, providing safety leadership and support across approximately 10–15 active construction projects.
  • Regularly travel to jobsites throughout the assigned territory to inspect working conditions and verify compliance with OSHA regulations, FSG policies, and industry best practices.
  • Partner directly with Project Managers, Superintendents, Foremen, and field personnel to identify hazards and develop practical solutions before incidents occur.
  • Conduct jobsite safety inspections, audits, risk assessments, and hazard analyses across electrical construction, service, and data operations.
  • Lead investigations involving injuries, property damage, incidents, and near-misses; determine root causes and develop appropriate corrective actions.
  • Maintain accurate incident documentation and prepare required internal and regulatory reports.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable OSHA requirements, electrical safety regulations, NEC requirements, company standards, and established safe-work practices.
  • Identify electrical hazards and provide guidance related to energized work, PPE, lockout/tagout, fall protection, equipment operation, and other construction-related risks.
  • Develop, implement, review, and continuously improve branch safety programs, procedures, and initiatives.
  • Deliver safety training to field employees, supervisors, and other personnel, with particular emphasis on electrical and construction-related hazards.
  • Coach employees and field leadership on safe work practices while promoting accountability and proactive hazard recognition.
  • Ensure Pre-Task Plans (PTPs), Toolbox Talks (TBTs), inspections, audits, and other required safety documentation are completed accurately and consistently.
  • Analyze safety metrics, incidents, observations, and trends to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Utilize digital safety-management systems for inspections, incident reporting, training records, documentation, and compliance tracking.
  • Support behavior-based safety initiatives and encourage proactive hazard identification throughout the branch.
  • Assist with fleet safety, company equipment, and related safety requirements as assigned.
  • Stay current on OSHA requirements, electrical safety standards, industry developments, and emerging safety best practices.
  • Communicate safety performance, concerns, corrective actions, and recommendations directly to branch and corporate leadership.
  • Serve as the branch's safety liaison with FSG's corporate safety organization.
  • Report to the Director of Safety and Risk.
Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience in construction safety, electrical safety, or a closely related safety role; commercial or industrial electrical construction experience strongly preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of OSHA construction standards and jobsite safety practices.
  • OSHA 500 required.
  • Experience conducting jobsite inspections, safety audits, incident investigations, and employee safety training.
  • Ability to independently manage safety responsibilities across multiple active projects and changing priorities.
  • Strong understanding of electrical hazards and safe work practices.
  • Ability to communicate confidently and professionally with electricians, foremen, superintendents, project managers, customers, and senior leadership.
  • Strong documentation, incident-reporting, and organizational skills.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to regularly travel between jobsites.
  • Ability to successfully complete required background screening.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • CHST (Construction Health and Safety Technician) certification.
  • CESCP (Certified Electrical Safety Compliance Professional) certification.
  • Journeyman Electrician license or significant hands-on electrical construction experience.
  • Experience supporting safety across multiple simultaneous commercial or industrial construction projects.
  • Familiarity with digital safety-management and compliance platforms.
What Makes This Opportunity Different

This isn't a desk-based corporate safety position, and it isn't a traditional people-management role.

You'll be the go-to safety professional for the branch, with the autonomy to manage your territory, build relationships with field leadership, influence how work is performed, and directly impact the safety culture of multiple electrical construction projects.

For an experienced construction safety professional who enjoys being in the field and wants genuine ownership of a safety program—without managing a large department—this role offers the opportunity to make a visible impact across the entire operation.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary based on experience
  • 22 days PTO with cash-out options
  • 401(k) with company matching contributions
  • Medical coverage, plus dental, vision, and life insurance
  • Company vehicle or vehicle allowance
  • Phone allowance
  • Career advancement opportunities with a nationally recognized electrical contractor
  • Ongoing training and professional development
  • Stable, long-term employment with one of the nation's leading electrical construction organizations

As an EEO/Affirmative Action Employer all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, age, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, veteran status.
