Job summary

Sheakley is seeking a Lead Construction Safety Manager to oversee safety operations for electrical construction on a large-scale data center project in Wheatfield, IN. This 1099 contractor role emphasizes strong field leadership and proactive hazard management.

You will partner with electrical crews, supervision, and management to drive a culture of safety, compliance, and continuous improvement across multiple phases of a mission‑critical build.

Qualifications

  • BCSP Certification required or equivalent
  • OSHA 30 Construction Certification required
  • Minimum 5 years of construction safety experience
  • Previous lead safety manager or senior safety leadership role preferred

Responsibilities

  • Lead day‑to‑day construction safety operations for electrical contractor
  • Maintain a highly visible field presence with crews and supervision
  • Provide safety leadership, coaching, and direction to field personnel
  • Conduct routine site inspections, audits, and risk assessments
  • Monitor electrical installation activities and evolving hazards as construction progresses
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and project safety requirements
  • Support Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and hazardous energy control practices
  • Review JHAs, permits, and pre‑task plans
  • Lead incident investigations and corrective action implementation
  • Coordinate safety activities with project management, superintendents, and subcontractors
  • Maintain safety documentation, inspection records, and compliance reports
  • Track corrective actions and verify completion
  • Mentor safety personnel as needed
  • Identify project risks and implement effective controls
  • Promote a proactive safety culture on the project

Lead Construction Safety Manager

Location: Wheatfield, IN


Duration: 2 Years (Start: 8/24)


Type: 1099 Contractor


Compensation & Schedule

Pay Rate: $63/hr


Per Diem: None


Completion Bonus: $150/month


Pay Frequency: Weekly


Schedule: Day Shift | 40 Hours Per Week

The Lead Construction Safety Manager will maintain a strong field presence while providing leadership to the site safety program, partnering with electrical crews, field supervision, and project management to proactively identify hazards, maintain compliance, and drive a strong safety culture throughout the project.


Required Qualifications


  • BCSP Certification (CHST, ASP, CSP, or equivalent)

  • OSHA 30 Construction Certification

  • Minimum 5 Years Of Construction Safety Experience

  • Previous Lead Safety Manager or comparable safety leadership experience


Preferred Qualifications


  • Electrical construction safety experience

  • NFPA 70E knowledge or certification

  • Data center or mission‑critical construction experience

  • Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) experience

  • Experience supporting electrical energization and commissioning activities


What You'll Be Doing


  • Lead day-to-day construction safety operations for the electrical contractor
