Job summary

GALLS is seeking a Tailor/Seamstress (Production Associate) to alter uniforms and equipment for public safety professionals. You will take measurements, mark garments, and perform alterations with accuracy using heat press and industrial sewing equipment.

The role emphasizes attention to detail, reliability, and the ability to read work instructions in English. Training is provided for alterations, and you will join the Production and Value-Added Service Team on-site in Matawan, NJ.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
• Previous experience in Alterations preferred. GALLS will train!
• Well-versed in industrial Sewing machines, preferred. GALLS will train!
• Ability to effectively read/receive work instructions in English
• Extremely detail-oriented and quality-focused – you're not happy with mistakes
• Solid communication (both written and verbal) and interpersonal skills
• Ability to stand or sit for long periods of time, bend, stretch, twist, and lift, with or without reasonable accommodation

Responsibilities

• Read and accurately identify the customer's needs per the Work Instruction Document
• Take necessary measurements and mark garments for alterations, with the ability to problem-solve individual sizing issues
• Operate a heat press safely and efficiently
• Perform uniform sewing, alterations, and embellishments with accuracy and efficiency, to include taking up stride, lengthening/shortening tails on shirts, tapering shirts, adjusting waists, hemming trousers, mending tears, replacing zippers, applying patches, applying name strips, applying striping, and applying patches
• Operate industrial sewing machinery and meet production deadlines
• Other duties may be assigned to meet business needs
