Job summary

Kent District Library is seeking a Branch Librarian to provide reference and information services, assist patrons with collections and digital resources, and collaborate on community programs. The role requires professional librarian skills, knowledge of ILS and databases, plus strong interpersonal communication.

Responsibilities include maintaining collection quality, supporting staff and volunteers, and engaging with underserved communities.

Qualifications

• Master's in Library Science or related field, or Bachelor’s plus 5 years of relevant experience, or HS diploma plus 10 years of applicable experience.
• Ability to travel between work locations as needed.
• Knowledge of public library operations, reference interviews and policies.
• Excellent communication skills in English; bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide reference and information services to library patrons.
• Assist patrons in locating materials and using library databases and ILS.
• Participate in programming, community outreach and staff training.
• Maintain and assess library collections, shelving, and circulation procedures.
• Promote digital resources and assist with tech tutoring for patrons.
