Job summary

Scott County Library System is seeking a part-time Library Clerk to assist patrons at the Walcott Branch. You will perform circulation duties, handle registrations, book requests, and basic computer troubleshooting, while ensuring high-quality customer service.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED and at least two years of customer service experience; library experience is a plus. The position is union-eligible and based mainly in Walcott with occasional hours at other branches.

Responsibilities

• Handle all patron services steps: library card registration, book requests, search and retrieval, check-in/out, and basic computer troubleshooting.
• Learn and apply Scott County Library System policies and procedures.
• Maintain accurate records including statistics and cash handling.
• Provide reader's advisory services and assist with branch programs.
• Open and close assigned branch library.
• Shelve materials and keep shelves organized; perform cleaning as needed.
• Report branch issues to supervisor.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Job description

Provides customer service at a location of the Scott County Library System. Work involves assisting patrons by performing circulation duties and all desk procedures. This is a part time position, averaging 7 hours per week, $16.66 per hour. This position will be primarily based at the Walcott Branch but could include hours at other branch locations. The regular schedule is Tuesday 2-7 and every other Saturday 9-1. Provides direct high quality customer service.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for handling all steps of patron services to include library card registration, placing requests for books and information, search and retrieval of materials, checking in and out materials, and assisting with computer troubleshooting.
• Responsible for learning and applying Scott County Library System policies and procedures.
• Maintains all records accurately to include statistical data and cash handling.
• Responsible for providing reader's advisory services and for planning and implementing programs as a branch facility
• Opens and closes assigned branch library
• Shelves materials accurately and straightens shelves. Cleans library as needed
• Advises and reports branch issues to supervisor.
• Other duties as assigned and/or needed.

Education

• High school diploma or GED required
