Job summary

Akebono Brake Corporation in Michigan is seeking an experienced engineer to test, develop, and validate brake component designs and applications. The role requires a BS in Engineering (MS preferred) and 6+ years in brake design or testing, with strong data analysis, Six Sigma or Shainin experience, and proficiency in AutoCAD/SolidWorks

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering is required; Master's degree will be given higher consideration.
• Six+ years of related experience in foundational brake design or testing or an equivalent mix of education and experience.
• Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical journals, financial reports, and regulatory documents.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Plans, executes and reports on experimental and validation tests on brake products.
• Plans and analyzes dimensional measurement of brake components.
• Analyzes test results and recommends corrective actions for performance non-compliance; uses Six Sigma or Shainin tools if needed.
• Collaborates with design engineers and project managers to ensure product compliance with specifications and timing.
• Designs and writes test procedures.
• Leads technicians in test and measurement activities.
• Recommends improvements to test equipment and procedures.
• Performs reference calibration on relevant equipment.
• Assembles brake products from components and creates fixture drawings using AutoCAD or SolidWorks; applies GD&T on drawings.
