Job summary

Gallup-Mckinley County Schools seeks an Athletic Coach for Boys Track for the 2026-2027 school year. The role involves teaching fundamentals, developing team strategy and guiding student athletes to success, with on-site attendance required.

The coach will supervise staff and coordinate with the athletic director and principals, ensuring adherence to program goals and safety standards. Evening and weekend commitments are expected to support practices and events.

Qualifications

• Has the ability to organize and supervise a total sports program.
• Has previous successful coaching experience in assigned sport. (Major sports)
• The head coach must have substantial knowledge of the technical aspects of the sport and, at the same time, must continue to examine new theories and procedures pertinent to the field.
• The head coach must serve as an appropriate role model for student athletes through his/her instructions and actions.

Responsibilities

• Instruct athletes in the fundamental skills, strategy and physical training necessary for them to realize a degree of individual and team success.
• Upgrade knowledge and skills through coaching clinics, observations, consultation, etc.
• Work with students interested in sports, provide necessary practice support and advice for a team to be successful against opposing teams in a sports season.
• Teach and enforce rules and regulations. Includes evenings and weekends.
