Job summary

Proviso West High School in Hillside, IL is seeking a Boys Tennis Assistant Coach to support the Head Coach in developing a competitive program while ensuring a safe, inclusive environment for student-athletes. The position reports to the Director of Athletics and Activities and the building Principal.

Responsibilities include planning drills, conditioning, game-day logistics, equipment management, and ensuring compliance with IHSA rules.

Qualifications

• Valid Illinois teaching certificate or equivalent coaching certifications.
• CPR/AED certification and concussion safety training required.
• IHSA compliance and Title IX training as per district policy.
• Background check and fingerprint clearance completed.
• Experience coaching high school athletes and strong instructional skills.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Head Coach to design drills, practices, and conditioning.
• Provide feedback on technique, effort, and sportsmanship.
• Assist with game-day logistics, equipment, and warm-ups.
• Maintain equipment inventory and coordinate repairs.
• Ensure IHSA rules, safety protocols, and eligibility processes are followed.
• Support scheduling, travel logistics, and budget tracking.
• Engage with students, parents, and staff to foster a positive program.
