Plus One, part of the Optum Workplace Well-being portfolio, seeks a full-time Bouldering Instructor to support an indoor wall at our Menlo Park, CA headquarters. You will educate climbers, lead beginner through advanced classes, and uphold safety across the facility while fostering a welcoming community.

The role requires hands-on instruction, route-setting experience, CPR/First Aid, and strong customer service. Join a team committed to health, wellness, and an engaging employee experience.

Qualifications

• Minimum 6 months of climbing experience or 2 years in indoor/outdoor climbing roles.
• Minimum 6 months of route-setting experience and demonstrated instruction.
• Current CPR/AED and First Aid certification.
• Proficient in teaching belay, lead climbing and technical movement.
• Experience setting and forerunning V4/5.10.
• Knowledgeable about industry with strong customer engagement.
• Microsoft Office proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Educate members on proper use of climbing equipment and safety procedures.
• Lead or assist instructional climbing programs and courses.
• Monitor participants and facilities to ensure safety standards.
• Address questions and concerns promptly and professionally.
• Maintain cleanliness and presentation of climbing wall and surrounding areas.
• Collaborate with team and provide operational support across the broader fitness center.
• Promote safety, customer service, and a strong climbing community culture.
• Foster a welcoming, engaging, and safety-focused environment for climbers of all levels.
