Job summary

University of California, Berkeley seeks a Climbing Programs Coordinator to oversee all daily operations of the rock climbing wall and to hire, train, and mentor part-time staff. The role includes program design, risk management, and instructional opportunities in indoor climbing activities.

You will ensure safety, manage budgets, and collaborate with the Department of Recreation & Wellbeing and marketing for outreach. This position is on-site with UC benefits and a 40-hour week.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in related area is required.
  • Demonstrated leadership and program management experience.
  • Experience with route setting, climbing equipment, and safety requirements.
  • Experience supervising a top rope climbing site and belay teams.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily operations of the rock climbing wall.
  • Hire, train, and mentor part-time staff and lead safety trainings.
  • Develop program design, risk management, and logistics.
  • Instruct in program areas as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with campus risk management policies and budget.
